Journalism

Journalism to me is everyone coming together to do something for the school, Everyone who did do this got a lot out of it. And people who didn't well.. Missed out. But i think it's a great opportunity for someone who is interested in this as a profession.

journalism

This year i was put in journalism has been very stressful and hard at times. It has been alot of writing and interviewing. At first i thought this class was going to be boring and lame because of all the writing. I started writing more, interviewing , and really geting serious about it. So my opinion on journalism changed i really like geting information and making sure i have the best information for a great story. I found out what i might want to go in after high school. This has been a great experience being apart of the first sipsey valley newspaper staff. My advice for you if you want to take this class is its alot of work and you have to be willing to give your time, and effort.

The great class of Journalism!!

Everyone has worked so hard. Yes some worked harder then others but thats sometimes all someone can do, and everyone has done alot. Thanks to this class, Sipsey Valley has gotten great newspappers. No there not perfect but its the effort that counts and everyone put in alot of effort. Even the students not in Journalism helped out alot. This semester has worked so good, we've had hard times and good times, but all in all this semester has been great. I'm hoping that Journalism will continue on to be a tradition in Sipsey Valley and the legacy goes on. Mrs. Beth Walker has to very alot of help. This is her first time teaching Journalism and she has been a wonderful teacher. She has put in ours staying even as late as 9:00 pm trying to get the paper done. Cole Booth has to helped her out so much. And for this we are ever gratful. Thanks Bears!!!

Journalism

This year i was put in a class that i thought I'd never like, none of my friends were in it with me, I hated writing, and i just thought I'd all around hate that i had to take this class..But over time as I participated in more events like writing the newspaper, typing and going on a field trip..I actually really started to have an interest in this class..

journalism

i have learned a lot in journalism this year, even though i havent been in this class for long, i am learning how to write stories and interview people that i dont have a clue who they are. i was nervous at first, but now i am getting used to doing that sort of thing without knowing that person. it is easier to do that when i dont know them, and about the topic that i am wanting to know more about. i can just ask them questions and get to

Journalism Class

Our class

Just in case your thinking about taking journalism ,its and OK class to take if you participate. I didn't even sign up for this class they just gave it to me. But in a way i'm kinda glad they did, because i got to meet some pretty cool people. its not a big class at all, in fact its a small class. We are a class of 10 students. the people in the class are nice and friendly. I don't think that there would be a class for journalism next semester. But between me and you i really wouldn't take this class again. But it is a good class i just don't think its for me.Mrs. senora Walker have taught us a lot his past semester and i want to thank er so much, because if it wasn't for er i wouldn't know the things that i know now,so Mrs. walker if your reading this THANKS SO M MUCH FOR ALL YOUR HELP!!!. so if you considering taking this class give it a shot i think you will like it.

Journalism

I haven't been in journalism for very long, but while I have been in this class I've learned how to write and how to ask people questions about the topics I am wanting to know more about.

In case you were wondering...

If you were ruminating on the pros and cons of Journalism, it's a nice enough class to take. Between you and me, the girls are cute, the people are nice, and the satisfaction of producing a paper makes it all worth it, in the end at least. Maybe if enough of you listen, we can put out a paper every week without nearly killing ourselves. Who knows, we could eventually have the best high school paper in Alabama! Not a huge achievement or anything, but it's something to work for.

A Question

Did you every think to your self do I wont to be in a journalism class.I didn't it never crossed my mind well I did end up in the class.I did like the class but sometimes I didn't,what I really like was that we were treated as if we were an adult. What I learned was what the teacher expected out of the article I really enjoyed was the field trip we went on Dec 9 I really had fun. What I well say is that I wouldn't take this class again, but I think you should try it and mybe you'll like it.

Journalism

Journalism was a fun experience but it was very tiring. You do a lot of writing. If you want to take journalism you need to have a creative mind. We wrote the Sipsey Insider of course and gave you all the information at Sipsey. If want to take journalism you cant be shy because you have to interview and talk to people you don't know. Ms. Walker made it fun for but while making it fun she made us work and get what we needed done, done. I think if you take journalism it will be a fun experience for you too.

My experience in jornalism

My experience in Journalism was interesting. I learned a lot of different things about writing that I didn't know. I thought this was a fun class especially when your apart of the newspaper staff. I would probably take it again. The only negative part I had in journalism was thinking of some good ideas to write about and getting them in on time. If you like to write and like the newspaper then this class would be good for you.

Favorite Part of Christmas

Do you have a favorite part of Christmas? Well, I do, my favorite part of Christmas is when I get to see all my family that I haven't seen in a year. Enjoying laughter and memories with my family is the biggest thing I enjoy. Watching people open their presents and seeing their expression their faces. I hope you enjoy Christmas like I do.

Christmas is just around the corner!

Are you ready for Christmas? Do you have that Christmas feeling most people get this time of year? And all you hear now is Christmas music right? Christmas is one of the biggest holidays of the year because it celebrates the birth of Jesus Christ. Most people get together to spend time with their family and give gifts and celebrate Christmas together. This Christmas make sure you get all your gifts while the sales are on and while you got the Christmas spirit. Be sure you don't take Christmas as just being about the gift and stuff think about the real reason we celebrate it!

Im thankful for christmas

This year for Christmas I'm getting a lot more gifts then i got last year. Last year for Christmas i wasn't able to get everything i wanted. But this year i was able to get everything i wanted, well not everything but mostly everything.Christmas isn't only about getting presents but it's about giving. Giving someone that doesn't have anything is the greatest gift you can give to them.Showing that you care for that person and you want them to have a good Christmas also. There are lots of children that don't get anything for Christmas. So when you have old toys, don't through them out you can donate them to make-a -wish foundation.

Christmas

Christmas is an amazing time, you get to spend time with family, and friends, and just sit around and drink hot chocolate and get presents. Christmas is more than that though, Christmas was when Jesus was born, and people have been forgetting all about the true meaning of Christmas. This year, try to remember others, the way Jesus did.
I think Christmas is all about family, that should be the most important thing. Being all together as a family should mean a lot to you. Also the things and traditions you do as a family, such as, looking at Christmas lights, caroling, and doing whatever it is your family does. I hope you have a great holiday!

Jango Vs. Pandora!

There is the normal radio, where you can easily just tune in and listen, but there is all those silly little commercials. There is ipods and mp3 players, no commercials but they always play the same thing. Well now there is Pandora and Jango Internet radio. They are radio stations that people have put music together from their computer and it plays. You can even skip to the next song, instead of worring about having to listen to a song you don't like. Although they are different, they both work really well in my opinion. Though a secret is the county board only blocks Pandora radio, and not Jango. You will need to sign up to play music on either, but that is very simple. Pandora also lets you put bookmarks on songs so if you like a certain song you can easily look it back up. Both of them let you tell whether you like it or not and if you don't then they wont play the song again, though a lot of times they put the same song in more then once. So try it out and better yet it's free!!

CHRISTMAS!!

CHRISTMAS BREAK IS JUST AROUND THE CORNER AND WE'LL BE OUT OF SCHOOL FOR WEEKS WITH NO SCHOOL AND NO TEACHERS..BUT THAT'S NOT THE FAVORITE PART OF CHRISTMAS FOR ME THE FAVORITE THING TO ME IS SPENDING EXTRA TIME WITH MY FAMILY AND FRIENDS LAUGHING,PLAYING GAMES,AND EATING..THOSE THINGS OUT WEIGH ALL THE PRESENTS IN THE WORLD,MY FAMILY AND FRIENDS IS THE BEST GIFT I'VE EVER RECEIVED..........

Afghan Officer Kills Six Service Members

In the Tuscaloosa News it tells use that an Afghan officer kills six service members while training mission Monday. The Taliban claimed responsibility, saying the gunman joined the border police to kill foreign soldier. On July 20 an Afghan army sergeant got into an argument at a shooting range in northern Afghanistan.

18 Bodies Found In northern mexico mass grave

I read a article called, ''18 bodies found in northern mexico mass grave,'' in the Tuscaloosa News. This article was about the mexican army discovered several clandetines graves holding at least 18 bodies near a ranch in the northern state of chihahua. My opinon on this is that this article has alot of unanswered questions.

Fair Isle, Plaid keeps gift trends great for whole family

I read a article about great gift trends for whole family. I found it interesting because it talks about what is new and in-style. It also gave you some good gift ideas for Christmas. This article caught my attention because I love to go shopping an buy clothes. So this Christmas be sure to go check out all the holiday sales and get in-style with all these new fashion ways !

The boy who shot his self

Today in the newspaper i read in one of the articles about a boy who shot his self 3 times. the boy was 15 years old. He held Two dozen students and a teacher on hostage.I think that he was having some serious issues for him to do something that crazy. He probably shot himself because he knew that he would get in a lot of trouble for doing that. But he should have have responsibilities for his actions.

The Class War Rages on in U.S.

I read an interesting article in the Tuscaloosa News. The title was The Class War Rages on in U.S. It is a war that no one wants to talk about anymore. Millions of people are out of work and struggling to find money and jobs. People aren't having enough money for the holidays. I think people shouldn't have to be losing their jobs and struggling to get money. People who got an education should always have a job. People who didn't care enough to get an education shouldn't care enough to have a job either but that's just my opinion.

U.S says leaks crime threatens prosecution

I read in the Tuscaloosa news that in Washington, Obama branded "wiki leaks" which released a quarter-million files and raised suspicion of criminal prosecutions in connections with exposure wiki leaks may have defeated pentagon security systems using a little more than a Lady Gaga CD and a computer memory stick. I think that this is the security's fault and that they should make some safety changes to secure whatever it is that they are trying to keep secret.

Afghan officer kills 6 U.S. service members

I read an article in the Tuscaloosa news titled "Afghan officer kills 6 U.S. service members". A man killed these men in a shoot out, and then got killed himself. I don't understand why this kind of violence happens. I mean, you can be mad at others and not have to kill them. Just because these mean were his enemies, he felt like he had his opportunity to shine, and murdered innocent victims. For what? Because he also died. He got nothing out of it, and he sure isn't a "hero" in my book, he's a bad man.

giving thanks

Thursday is thanksgiving and its not just a day to eat but its day for giving thanks. Some people dont realize how good they have it.I'm thankful for a lot of things. Im thankful for my mom and dad because they made me and they raised me up to be who i am today.Im mostthankful for god because if it wsnt for him i would'nt even exist. I love everything about thanksgiving beacause it a day for giving thanks and showing how much you care about someone.Evryone should somthing to be thankful for.

THANKSGIVING

What am i thankful for?I'm thankful for that God has allowed me to live on earth with great advantages and conditions most people do not have..Children in third world countries experience poverty, starvation, rape and many more horrible things..So im taking this time to show how thankful i am for my situation and how God has blessed my family and me..

Thanksgiving

Happy Thanksgiving what are you thankful for I'm thankful for my family my life and God.For thanksgiving just take a few seconds and think what am I'm thankful for.Now I know everyone is ready for the food but just before you eat let everyone say one thing their thankful for.

Happy Thanksgiving

Today where going to be geting out of school for the rest of the week for thanksgiving. What are you thankful for? Thanksgiving is Nov. 25,2010 its the day when you spend your time with family and friends and give thanks for everthing god has put in your life.

Thanksgiving

What are you thankful for? I am thankful for a couple of things, one of which is my wonder, yet hyper, sister. I wanted to have a sister so badly and God gave her to me and for that I am proud of her always. Another thing I am grateful for is being thought how to be polite and careing to others, though most of the time I take that a little to far and put others above me. I am still glad to help anyone out and without my grandparents teaching me that I would probably be in a very bad situation. I am most gratful to have the friends I have and the teachers that are so kind to me. But most of all I am happy to be a servant of God.

Thanksgiving

Are you thankful for anything this year? Well, I am I'm thankful for my great family and wonderful friends. On Thanksgiving I always go eat with all my family. Thanksgiving is a time where you should be thankful for everything you have and you shouldn't be greedy. You need to be giving. This Thanksgiving try to be thankful for something you have that others don't.

Monday, November 22, 2010

This thanksgiving, give thanks

I am so thankful for everything in my life. God has blessed me with a great family and wonderful friends; but this Thanksgiving, think about those who aren't as fortunate as you, who don't have food, or heat, or anyone to spend Thanksgiving with, or even those who have all of that stuff but still are not truly happy. We complain about everything, we don't like this food, or that food, but others would be so thankful to have any food. Give Thanks, and have a great Thanksgiving!

Thanksgiving

This thanksgiving you should think about what your thankful for, be happy for what you have and stop worrying about what you don't have. This is the time to spend with family and friends and all talk and not have to worry about everything else in the world that is going on. There are many people over seas who won't be able to be with there families for thanksgiving so think about that next time you have a complaint, because you have it better than they do. I hope you have a wonderful thanksgiving!

Happy Thanksgiving

Do take things you have for granted? Do you enjoy the time with your family? Well this thanksgiving you should take time and think about all the stuff you have and the family and friends in your life. Some people may not have everything you do but those people are thankful for anything. Thanksgiving is a special holiday. So this Thanksgiving just remember what you have and be thankful for you family! Happy Thanksgiving!!

Tippacanoe and Davis, Too

A good ole boy, and an old teacher of mine, was Mr. Will Davis, at Echols Middle School. Most of you guys haven't met him, since you all went to Lloyd Wood, but just because he was at the better middle school doesn't mean he wasn't a good guy. He was always very supportive, from that time at the Pamper Pole (A 20 foot tall pole that you jumped off of) down near Mobile, and when I was the captain of our Scholar's Bowl team, and managed to never win much of anything at all. I think we had the best time out of all of the teams, though. If you read this, Will, I hope you've had a good time so far, and continue to do so. Say hi to Elizabeth for me, if you see her.

Favorite teacher?

Do you have a favorite teacher? Well i do Mrs. Burgess she was my 5th grade teacher. She helped me in so many ways , she encouraged me that i could do better each time i made a mistake. She taught really good so i could understand better. She always gave me awards for having good grades and being the best improved in her class. She was just one of those teachers that always new what to say to help an encourage improvment. Mrs. Burgess was my favorite teacher , so whos yours?

Teacher

My first grade teacher Mrs. Gail's made a change in my life she showed me how too work hard and have confidence in my self to know I can do good. She took the time before and after school to help me with my work. She made sure I had what I needed to learn and to get my work done.Every since then I make sure I get my work done and make good grades, that's how she made a difference in my life.

My Favorite teacher!

I do not have a favorite teacher, there is so many teachers that i liked so im just going to name the top three. Mrs. Townsend, she was the kindest person, though she was a little to kind and made her blind to somethings she was very kind. She would always help you if you needed help and was always there for you. Next is Mrs. Lucky from TCHS, she was very unusal but she was really funny. She also helped me out in many things and for that I'm grateful for. and last Mrs. Walker, the teacher of this block I have right now, she is very kind and hard working and probably works harder then most teachers. She stays sometimes after school till 8 and takes her time to make sure everything is right. Thanks to her we have a spanish class and a newspaper. God bless you all, and we Luv you! ^.^

Drinking and driving is bad

Today is a really good day for me because I'm going to B-Ham after school,I'm so happy. I really wanted my dad to go with us but unfortunately he can't because he has to work double shifts.I hope we get to go this weekend. I like the basketball team so far they have been doing really good. In health today we talked about how 75% of teens die from drunk driving. I think that it really made some people who drink think about the serious consequences that happen when they drink and drive. we also watched a video on it and that made me think of all the teens that are here and they drink.sometimes the person drinking isn't the person who ends up getting killed in the car accident its the passengers in the car with him. It's illegal to drink if your under 21.Teensthat are in school should not drink or any teens in this world. Drinking can be bad for everyone.

Special Teacher

Have you ever had a teacher that you know you will always remember? One that has inspired you? I have had one and he was my coach and my teacher. His name is Bradley Atchenson. He has helped me through so much. He has help me not only on the field but also in the classroom. He has inspired me to keep playing softball and hopefully college ball. Hes also help me keep up my grades. One thing I love about him is I know I can go to him about anything and he will give me great advice on what I should do. I will know I will never forget him. I hope you have had a teacher like I have and if you haven't I hope you do in the future.
My favorite teacher through my school years has been Mr.Ferrell..The reason is because he's been a great influence on my life..He helps me keep my grades up if I'm struggling,he talks to me about the world and how our society is today, he keeps me on the right track, helps me with sports...Coach Ferrell is like a father to mostly every student he's had that's why he's my favorite teacher..

The teacher I love.

I have had a teacher that has changed my life. Mrs. Wilson was my science teacher for two years, but I have known her for twelve. She has been through some tough times, but she never gave up. She showed me that whatever I was going through, I had someone there to pick me back up. She was like a mother to me. No matter the circumstance, she always knew what to say to make me feel better about what I was dealing with.

She was there for me whenever i needed her and i felt like i could tell her anything. I was friends with her daughter and that helped us get closer. Who Dares, Wins

If you didn't notice all of the other posts, and I doubt that you did, since I am talking to a merely metaphorical reader and very few actual readers, it's kindness week. Believe it or not, there is a whole 1/52nd of our year dedicated to being nice to people. The rest of the time, you can just act how you feel like, right? It doesn't matter how you treat other people, right? The answer is no. It always matters when you are kind to another person, or if they are kind to you, regardless of what week it is. I ask you to dare to be a kind person, a good person, no matter what week it is. Also, have a good day.

Are you kind?

Do you like when someone gives you an compliment or does something nice for you? well alot of people do. This week is kindness week if you didnt know, so if it is someone out their that has did something kind for you go out their and do something kind for them. So think about it, is it somebody out their you can do something for and put a smile on their face. Even if you cant think of someone just go and do something kind for someone anyways cause being kind is the way to be.

Sipsey Valley Kindness

For those who don't know, this week is kindness week. I have done several nice things for people for this reason. It shows you how nice it feels to do something nice for someone else and not wanting anything in return. You can do many things that would help people out and would make them happy. Be kind and doing something for someone today!

If you got kindness, use it!

This week is world kindness week. World kindness week is about showing and being kind to someone. when you be kind to someone you don't suppose to look for something in return when you do it. I think that being kind is a good characteristic for a person to have. if your kind to someone you will be blessed for it even if they don't appreciate it you know that you did something nice for someone and it makes you fell good inside. More people today need to be kind and take it in consideration to do good things everyday even if its just saying thanks. So remember to always KIND!

Got Kindness?

Have you ever been kind to someone? Or has someone been kind to? This week was kindess week. Kindness isn't about wanting something back when you do something for someone. Kindness is when you doing something for someone because of a hard time or there sick or just to thank them for something they done for you or to just help them out or doing something just to kind. You could cut grass for an elderly man without him asking and not charging. That would be considered kind. Being kind shows great personality. When you kindness there is more a chance of someone being to you. So show kindness this week to someone.

Kindness at Sipsey Valley

Are you kind to people who are mean to you? This is kindness week so try to be kind to people who aren't that kind to you. I experienced kindness this week. A guy at my lunch table bought me something to eat even though I didn't I asked for it but he knew I was hungry and I didn't have any money. I was kind to someone this week. I brought this guy a brownie from my house who is always mean to me and picks on me. What did you experience or what did you do for someone?

Kindness

Did you know this week is kindness week ,so do something kind for someone.Being kind could be giving a classmate some paper. This week I gave a classmate a pencil so that they could do their work. Also I helped explain work to a friend who didn't understand their work. You could do something simple like not talking during in class and listening that would help a teacher out a lot.
Last night my sipsey valley high school basketball team started off the season without me.. I felt really disappointed to have to sit on the bench and watch my teammates lose horribly in our first game ever at our new school... I fell like i disappointed my school and coaches and players but tonight i look to redeem myself and help my team get a big win tonight.

Glogster

This is Glogster, try it now at www.glogster.com!!!

Dream Job

Do you have a dream job? Have you ever taken time to sit an think about what you want to be? My dream job is a nurse. I've always wanted to be a nurse and help take care of children, babies and people. You have to go through more school in college to become a nurse. But it has good pay.Being a nurse is a big responsibility because you have to be on time and know how to work things and take care of patients and give shots the right way! So if you haven't started thinking about your dream job you probably should so you can get prepared and take the classes that are required.

So, how about that Republican House Majority?

Some of you, with that bizarre exception of the caveman who has an internet connection yet no interest in politics, may have heard that the Republicans have gained the House majority. There has been some talk about John Boehner being elected as the Speaker of the House, but Tea Party leader Michele Bachmann is going to run for the position, maybe with some success. It appears that the Tea Party has nearly run the GOP's campaign for them, grabbing all of the headlines to keep the public interested, and defeating Democrats in key states. The Republicans had better get used to the more hardline conservatives of the Tea Party, because they appear to be here to stay.

Dream Job

Do you have a dream job? What would you like to be when you grow up? My dream job is to be a pharamist. Pharamists fix your medicine. They get paid a pretty good amount of money. There are several steps you have to take before becoming a pharamist. You have to go through a lot more schooling after you get out of high school. You have to take certain classes to help you learn about the body and what every medicine is called and does.

My Dream Job

My dream job for now is to be a veterinarian. It would be a good job because you get to meet new people everyday. Also it's a good job because you can make a difference by saving an animal's life. They make very good money,if you like working with animals and other people then this would be a good job for you.You might not always think it's a dream job. You are going to know how to talk to people when they're in a bad or sad mood because of their animal's injuries. You will have to see unhappy dogs you might not always be able to save the animal's life.

Cancer is a word, not a sentence.

What is Breast Cancer? It's a disease in which malignant, otherwise known as cancer, cells form in the tissues of the breast. Depending on the age, the individual, and the cells with in the tumor itself, it can be a heterogeneous disease. No woman ever wants to hear the terrifying words "Breast Cancer" as a diagnosis, but just because you happen to have it doesn't mean it's a death sentence. It can be the beginning of a fight, getting to know the illness, and finding hope. Each year it is estimated that over 200,000 women will receive the diagnosis of having breast cancer and more than 40,000 will unfortunately die. Risk factors include, being over weight or obese, being over the age of 65, family history, and other medical issues. Every woman should have a early detection plan especially if it runs in your family's history. Beginning at the age of 20 you should start self-examinations and regular doctor visits. Any girl age 16 and up should get mammograms every one or two years to play it safe. I believe everyone should do their part in raising awareness and getting attention about this serious condition. You never know if one day that could be you. You can show awareness or help the Breast Cancer research programs by donating money or buying merchandise that organizations sell. I have already contributed to the "Breast Cancer Research Foundation" and you should too!

"Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous, Do not be terrified; Do not be discouraged, For the LORD your God will be with you where ever you go." -Joshua 1:9.

The Big election

I think that the election could have gone better . There need to be more voters out to vote. People need to vote because they need to be heard, when we are heard we will feel like our vote matters and that it made a difference in our government. Many of my family members voted, and I will vote when I get to that age where I can vote. If I could tell young people something to do with elections it would be, for them to vote, and let them know important it is for their voices to be heard. So, I encourage all people to vote.

Unhealthy Relationships

Are you in an unhealthy relationship? There are many types of abuse, such as, emotional, physical, and mental abuse. Emotional would be throwing low blows to make you feel bad about yourself. Physical abuse would be someone actually putting their hands on you and harming you. Mental abuse is a person getting inside your head and making you believe things that you normally wouldn't or making you feel dumb. You may have heard of Old Bryce Hospital, an old insane asylum on Highway 82, near WalMart. You may also have heard it's haunted, or at least really creepy. It may not be advisable to enter the hospital, since it's structuarally unstable, and the cops have it covered. Since it's private property, it would be trespassing if you were caught. Far be it from my mind to suggest that you ever visit our local haunt, due to it being pretty much illegal. I promise. If you'd rather stay at home, check out this video:

Seems like its all coming to an end...The Sipsey Valley High School football team will have its last game of the season against Maplesville Friday at 7...We've had a tough first year with a lot of ups and many downs.I couldn't ask for a better coach than Coach Tucker, he's been a great influence..As we finish our last game tomorrow we hope to finish on a high note so we can give all of our seniors at least one win as they go on to do great things in college and in life..

Dont Text and Drive !

Many people text and drive today and that can cause many wrecks and other dangerous things around other people. People who text and drive will probably get a ticket. Most people on campus do it all the time. many of the wrecks today are caused by that because your having to take you eyes of the road and just taking your eyes off the road for five seconds anything could happen. Anything could happen in a blink of an eye. SO DON'T TEXT AND DRIVE !!

Death Penalty? Anti or Pro?

Are you Anti or Pro death penalty? Personally, I'm on neither side. I believe if you killed someone else then you should receive that punishment but if you didn't kill anyone and you commited another crime then you shouldn't receive something so severe. It's not used in some states already but maybe the legal system should rethink some of their own systems. I don't understand what could make people be so harsh against one another but hopefully they'll realize what they did is wrong one way or another.

The Sipsey Insider newspaper.

I really like this weeks school newspaper. I think that it was a great because it more stuff then all the others. It had something on more things about the community and a lot of stuff on all clubs and sports. My favorite part of the newspaper was"Inside Homecoming ". i didn't like the cartoon that much. I think that we really did a good job this time.

Death Penalty

I think we should get rid of the death penalty..Because when someone commits murder or another major crime all we do the same thing by killing them and taking their life..I think we should just let that person live the rest of their life in prison and die of old age or natural causes..

Psychology in schools

My subject is about science. The article in the "The Tuscaloosa News" that I'm writing about is Schools to use Psychology in Cafeteria lunch lines. This has to do with science because of the nutrients and how kids are being overweight. My knowledge helps me with this article because I have to know about the food I eat and what's in the food I eat.

ALABAMA

Our team Alabama lost their first game for the season last Saturday. Millions of people were watching to see them win; millions of fans and I were disappointed. My family watched the game and they were upset because we did win. I was shocked when my sister told me Alabama lost. That's not getting me down because we have some more up coming games that we are going to win. To the Gamecock fans you all got lucky we will BEAT y'all next time. For the Alabama fans ROLL TIDE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Using Psychology in schools !

The schools today are going to start using psychology in schools. This is to help with all the nutrients and help young teens and children become more healthy. The research says about one-third of the teens and children are obese and overweight. So, hopefully this will help lower the risk of being so overweight or obese.
I WAS SO DISAPPOINTED WHEN MY CRIMSON TIDE FELL TO 19TH RANKED SOUTH CAROLINA THIS WAS OUR FIRST REGULAR SEASON LOSS IN TWO YEARS...AS I WATCHED THE GAME I NEVER SAW MYSELF GET SO MAD ABOUT A GAME..BUT MY TIDE LOOK TO BOUNCE BACK SATURDAY AT HOMECOMING..WE LOOK TO SHUT UP ALL THE CRITICS AND ESPECIALLY THE OLE MISS DEFENSE THAT'S ALL BEGUN TALKING ABOUT HOW THEY'RE GONNA DOMINATE OUR OFFENSE AND STOP INGRAM AND RICHARDSON EASILY..GUESS WE'LL SEE WHAT HAPPENS SATURDAY NIGHT..

The Bear Country Jamboree

Ladies, Gentlemen. Mostly ladies. I sincerely wish for you to attend the Bear Country Jamboree on Thursday, October the 14th at six o clock in the cafetorium. The rewards will be great. Side-splitting laughter, shocks, and yours truly sporting a spiky blonde coif. Admission to such a spectacle will only be five dollars, less than you'd pay at a county fair to see a bearded lady. (It's glue and hair) You might want to see the parade immediately before, but it's optional. Have a good break.
One week and one day and homecoming game strategies have already started. Coaches stress to us how big of a game this is for us and how much it would mean to win our first ever homecoming game. As a sophomore this will be my first homecoming game i ever played in and also the first one ever at Sipsey.I feel so great to be a part of this great history. A win would really mean the world to this community, school, and students. I hope to make and dominating impact on the outcome of the game to lead my team, my school, my family and community to a win.

Fall break is here!

I'm so glad that today is the last day before fall break. This weekend is going to be the best weekend sense school has been in.I think everyone is excited for our break, especially the students. We have been working hard to do our best in school and to secede in our goals. This week we had mid-terms and i think i did great on my test that I've took so far. when school is out today I'm going to go shopping for stuff for my project. That's the first thing I'm gone do just to get the boring and not so fun stuff out of the way.But the rest of the break is going to be just having fun and relaxing. And the break for christmas is going to be even better.

We play Hale County and we really hope to pull through with a win. We are going to get pumped up at the pep rally and show all our school spirit so we will be ready to play that night. Come out an support the Bears.

HOMECOMING

Homecoming is coming next week and I'm really excited. I can't wait to see what people dress up as on super hero day. It should be a great homecoming even though we don't have any people coming back home. We have a lot going on, there will be the parade then after the parade we are having a bear country jamboree in the cafeteria. There will be the lawn decorations and they will be announcing homecoming court. We are excited about playing Hale County even though we are probably going to lose but we will make the best of it.

My Week

Monday I was not ready to come back to school from my weekend. I just sat at home and watched TV what a fun time I had. Monday I dressed up nice and all day I was cold and ready to go home.Tuesday I went to school ready but when I stepped outside it was freezing, so all day I was cold and sleepy.Wednesday which was yesterday I wore my favorite color, green, and I was cold all day and I couldn't wait to get home to watch America's Next Top Model because my uncle's girlfriend sister is on the show. Thursday I dressed for the weather and it's not as cold as it was the other days.

What would you ask Obama?

If you could ask Obama any question, what would it be? My question would be what are some future plans you are looking forward to doing and could there be a major change anytime soon. Well I would like to ask O'Bama this question and many more.

The fair

This Friday I'm going to hang out with my friends at the fair. I hope that they have new rides this year because it's kinda getting boring seeing the same rides every year. Everyone have a great weekend.

President Obama

if I ever got to talk to President Obama the one thing I would like to ask him is why did you want to become President? The reason I would want to ask him this is because being the President is the most important job you could ever have and I think it would be interesting if I knew what the president did and why he would want to be the president since its a hard job and everybody depends on you.

Obama

If I could ask President Obama and talk to him I would ask him if he liked staying at the white house. I would have asked him what made him want to run for president and if he wanted to be one most of his life. I would ask him if they get out and do outdoor activities with the family and how much time he spends with his daughters. I have always wonder what its like to live in the white house and what all there is to do.

Want to help others? Locks of love might be the charity for you. This Charity is where girls cut off 10 inches or more of hair in a ponytail or braid to donate to kids under 21 that have any kind of hair loss issues. The hair you send in will be made into a hair piece that will then be given to a child in need of hair. There are however specific guidelines to the donations, the hair must be no shorter than 10 inches, can not be bleached or be in dread lock form. Hair must also be in a braid or ponytail, this is because they may have to separate the hair. This is a non-profit organization, please consider this charity.

Virginia Execution Related to Iran Stoning?

By the time you read this, Ms. Teresa Lewis will have been put to death. Her sentence? Hiring two men to kill her husband and stepchild. She even left the door unlocked so that the assassins could get in with no fuss. The gunmen's sentences were life in prison, a harsh sentence no doubt, but for a crime at least as bad as, if not worse than, Lewis' hiring them. How does this injustice stand? Why should the lady be put to death for a crime less serious than anothers'? Ask Virginia.

My Trip To Florida

This weekend I went to Florida with my sisters, brothers, mom and dad. We left Saturday and came back Sunday. We left Saturday at 6:00 to eat breakfast, then were on our way to Florida. It took us five and a half hours to get there; when we got there we went to our hotel room to put up our things. We left to go get something to eat and my mom and dad went and bought me a bathing suit. We went back to the room to swim, later we went to the beach to swim. We left to go out to eat at Pizza Hut, then went back to the hotel to swim again. We came back in at 9:00 and went to bed.We got up the next morning and left to get something to eat and then were back on our way to Tuscaloosa.

Parents' view on school uniforms,My view on uniforms

The Tuscaloosa City Board of Education will be asking parents in the city school system their opinion on students having to wear uniforms. This statement is from today's paper in the West Alabama section. the article was written by Jason Smith. I think that students shouldn't have to wear uniforms, because what we wear sets us apart from everyone else and we wouldn't want to be dressed like everyone in whole school. So, I would say no uniforms.

For deaf, wireless offers a new portal to the world

Ouietly over the past decade, phones that make text messaging easy have changed life profoudly for millions of deaf people. Gone are the days of a deaf person driving to someone's house just to see if they're home. Wives text their deaf husbands in the basment, just as a hearing wife yelsl down to the basement. I think this is a great thing that cell phones have made an difference, cause i know it would probably be pretty bad to not to be able to hear, so it's great something like a cell phone has made a big diffrence for people who aren't able to hear.

Lady Gaga's Speech on don't ask don't tell

Lady Gaga's speech was very moving. It is already has one million views in just three days. The speech was about the Don't ask, Don't tell the government has set up, which states that any gay, or lesbian people must not revel they are. If found out they could have very harsh punishment. I myself being gay must admit that I understand the pain of what these poor soldiers are going through. It is not the government's right to say what sexuality the soldiers that have the same goal, to help and protect the government, is. Lady Gaga's speech I hope will get people to understand that. Thank you Lady Gaga for your support. I know your words are heavier then most peoples.

If you wish to also help her and me in this noble cause, please call your sentator at (202) 224-3121
or go online to

Thank you

plane landing on highway

Why is a plane landing on the highway in the middle of 5 o clock traffic? On Monday, September 20th a plane landed on the Atlanta interstate. The pilot doesn't know why it happened. It just made an emergency stop on the interstate without hitting any cars. How far for the airport was the plane? How did it land on the highway without hitting other cars. I like this article but it needs more information about why the plane crashed.

Plane lands on busy Atlanta interstate

On Monday September 20th an plane landed on Interstate 85 around 5:00 p.m. The plane was hauled away a couple hours later. The pilot doesn't know exactly what happened. There were no injuries. How did the plane just crash without any other cars involved? How far from the airport was this crash? I like this article but there's not enough information.

Ingram is back

The reigning Heisman winner is back after missing the season,s last two games. Alabama tailback Mark Ingram is ''ready to go'' and will play Saturday at Duke, coach Nick Saban told reporters Wednesday.

Sabans socks

Have you ever heard about how Coach Saban wears one sock higher then the other at football practice. That might be like good luck or something that he has just always done or could be just the way he want to wear them. Coach Saban has really been a great Coach for the Crimson Tide an will continue to have more wins! Roll tide

Parents

Hey,many of you have parents who yell at you for things like not doing your homework or not cleaning your room. That happens to me sometimes, but what you have to do is do the things before they tell you to do it.After you start doing that, more often things that you ask for you well get sometimes, because they well know you deserve it.Now for you good kids who do what you are suppose to do at home and at school keep up the good work, work hard and do good. Good things will come to you.

My Labor Day Weekend

How many of you stay with your mom and not your dad well I do. I go over my dad house every other weekend. I went there last weekend and I had so much fun Saturday. First, I went over to my  cousin's house to watch the football game, then I went home and we had karaoke night. The next day my dad let me drive around the block, then we went to the park to eat breakfast. After that, we went to the Flea Market, after a long drive we made it to the McWane Science Center and had a great time. We went to Burger King to eat, later that day my grandmother had a Labor Day party. We left and I went home to go to sleep because I was sleepy. The next morning we went to the park to eat again, and we drove around and went to my stepmom's house after that my dad dropped us off at my grandma's house so my mom could pick me up. I had an awesome weekend.

Thursday, September 9, 2010

tomorrow we have another game and i will not be going because i have to watch my little sister,That sucks. I'm not really doing anything this weekend but maybe going to the mall and going to the park but other then that that's all I'm doing this weekend so I'm going to be bored, i can't wait until the football team win their first game. But they do good in all the games they play they just need to focus more on the field and practice a little harder. and good luck to them with the game tonight.

Wikipedia's co-founder speaks at UA

Many people scrambled and packed into the Ferguson Center Theater on the University of Alabama campus Wednesday night, it was evident more than a few people where familer with Jimmy Whales. And not just because there is an article on Wikipedia about him. An Alabama native an co-fouder of the free online encyclepedia, Wales delivered a lecture wiyh people sitting in the aisles and even more standing in the doorsways of the theatre.

Bike Accident

Dr. Elliot Rampulla a physician at the Wellness and Pain Treatment Center was killed September 9th. He was out riding his bike before daylight when he was struck by a car and the driver of the car was injured majorly but not killed. As the police investiagte it was not on purpose the driver swerved into the other lane where the cyclist was.

Explosion

Man exploded his apartment trying to kill everybody in there but ended up killing himself. He had a large stockpile of volatile materials. There were about 75 people, mostly seniors, in the building when the explosion occured about 9:30 p.m. Monday. They found seven milk jugs filled with gasoline and three large canisters and one small canister of gasoline. This happened in Decatur Alabama.

Charity

Do you ever do something to help the community or do something nice for others well, I do, I donate clothes to the Salvation Army. I also donate old toys that are in good shape that I don't need anymore. It's good to give to people who can't afford what you have. I think that some people should be happy for what they do have and if they think like that, those things that they do want, they will get. Just keep a good attitude. When ever you look in the closet and see something you do not want give it to the Salvation Army, someone really does need it.
This weekend I'm going to the movies, but I don't know what I want to go see yet, so I'm just going to watch anything that's out.Today the high school football team is having their first home game, and I am so excited to see them play.I really hope that they win this game, because my brother finally got to play last game and he was happy that he got to play. He is a running back and he never got the ball, but he'll do well this game. Hopefully he will get to play in this game too. I really want to go. Good Luck to the Bears tonight.

Soup Kitchen

Ever thought about volunteering at a soup kitchen? Well, I have. I thought it would be very nice and helpful if I did that, because I know it must be pretty bad not knowing where you might get your next meal. I think it would be great if more people might consider volunteering at a soup kitchen or any other community service.

Christmas shoeboxes

Christmas shoeboxes is a great way to make a child's Christmas the best. What you have to is fill a shoebox up with little items that a child would enjoy and then wrap them and label them boy or girl. You can drop the shoeboxes off at your local church or a place in the mall that is out there just about all November and December.

Locks for Love

I did locks of love a couple of years ago. Its a really neat program and I love giving to people. It meant a lot to me because my dad had cancer and he was losing his hair. I feel sorry for all the little kids who have cancer and don't have any hair. So I thought it would be cool if I gave some little boy or girl my hair so they won't be embarrassed to go out in public.

Eagle's Wings

To help others is one of the noblest causes we can take up in our day to day lives. The good people at Eagle's Wings of Tuscaloosa do this daily, aiding mentally disabled teens and young adults in trying to be independent. My own cousin, Holly, has Down Syndrome and goes to Eagle's Wings daily to be cared for by their professionals. Her parents (or at least one of them) would like for her to get an apartment on the newly purchased Eagle's Wings sponsored complex. If you'd like to know more, click that link at the top.

OMG ROFL Newspaper!?!?!?

You read that right, we've got a newspaper coming out today, as soon as you get to school. We printed today, using our little gnomes and their printing presses to get it to you fresh off of the presses. In other news, have you heard about those poor Chilean miners? All 33 of them are gonna be stuck down there until Christmas! It's pretty sad, I'm afraid. Don't forget about that newspaper, and have a great day.

A Movie Review

I would like to give you a review on The Blind Side. The Blind Side is a great family type movie. It's about this one boy who had got abused when he was little, his name is Micheal Orr also known as "Big Mike". This very nice family invited him to their house to stay.He was uncomfortable about doing it but wasn't gonna turn it down. RJ, the son of the family, became his best friend and Micheal got a schloarship to play football, his favorite sport. That's my movie review!

smartboards or books?

We spent a lot of money on smartboards and this brand new school but we can't have new books to study with or even take home. I think the school should have thought about having the smartboards more carefully.Yes, they are great for the classroom and they help teachers alot more, but students need books to study with so they can make better grades. They could have put more money on getting books for students instead of the smartboard. That's just my opinion on having the smartboard and not having text books.

Are you a victim of cyberbullying?

Have you ever been tormented, harassed, humiliated, or embarrassed by someone over the Internet? If so, you are a victim of cyberbullying. How this works is a victim is targeted by another person through hateful or threatening messages. Even though these actions are not taken place in person or face to face unkind messages are still hurtful and very serious. They may also approach by sending pictures via email or facebook, posting nude or degrding pictures of other teens or sending them through cell phones is also another act of cyberbullying. My question to these bullies is why?.. Who will ever know why some people think it's necessary or funny to humiliate or scare others. They are most often motivated by anger, revenge, and or frustration. You can prevent bullying by informing them about the consequences of losing they're ISP or facebook accounts. You should always stand up to bullies and always tell someone if you're being threatened. It's against the law to threaten people over the Internet. The more repeated the communications are, the greater the threats. The more dangerous the methods, the more likely law enforcement or legal process needs to be used. If you share personal information online the situation should be treated even more seriously. Don't be a cyberbully, and don't be a victim.

"Don't write it. Don't send it. Stop cyberbullying." -NCPC.

My New Start

Hi, Sipsey Valley students. I'm Ms. Bubbley and I'm on the newspaper staff. Well, I want to tell all Sipsey students about my new start at Sipsey.
At first, I didn't think I would like Sipsey, but after I got used to it, I realized Sipsey is my chance to have a new start in school, so I've been getting involved more since I've started Sipsey, and it really has helped me with starting to care more about my grades. So, Sipsey has been a great start for me, and I hope it has for ya'll too.

The Sipsey Valley Dedication!

First days of Sipsey Valley High School

My First days of Sipsey Valley High School were very intresting an confusing but not bad at all. When i had got to school I was nervous an lost but found my way easliy and got the hang of it. By the third day of school I was already feeling great about it and new right where to go. The teachers at Sipsey Valley are great and understanding. Im very excited about being at Sipsey and cant wait to see what happens in the future.

Starting A New Tradition

My first days at Sipsey Valley High School have been great. I got all the teachers and classes I wanted. I like the rules the princeple has. They are strict but strict is good because it makes us a better and safer school. I like sipsey because it doesnt have many students and you know just about everybody in your classes. I think Sipsey is going to be a great school.

The Ground Zero Mosque

Hi, and welcome to the Sipsey Insider blog. This will accompany the newspaper, and have a personal spin on it. Now, you've probably heard about the controversial mosque, slated to be built near Ground Zero. 2 blocks away, in fact. Many important politicians and celebrities have spoken out on this hot button topic, mmostly in the negative. For exsample, Sarah Palin states, "Doesn't it stab you in the heart, as it does throughout the heartland?" In my opinion, no, it does not. Muslims are not evil by virtue of their faith, only by interpreting it to mean the extermination of other peoples. Most Muslims do not advocate terrorism, and in fact despise it as much as the rest of us. Who do you think is being killed when we hear about "30 dead from suicide bomber in Pakistan"? In relation to our topic, the Muslims building the mosque near Ground Zero are not the terroristic kind. They are building, not destroying. Why should Muslims be condemned for building a mosque, when Jews could build a synagogue or Christians, a church, in exactly the same place? IN short, not all Muslims are evil, and neither are mosques. I hope you have an excellent day.
